History and Structure

People’s First Federal Credit Union was originally chartered as U.S.Pipe Federal Credit Union in 1936.  The credit union’s field of membership was employees of U.S. Pipe North Birmingham Plant.  The credit union’s office was in the plant to start with, but later moved just outside the North Birmingham Plant.  In May of 1989 the credit union purchased the building it currently occupies at 1140 Ford Avenue in Tarrant, Alabama.

In 2001 the management, along with the National Credit Union Administration decided to form a community credit union charter with the base of membership coming from the City of Tarrant, the board determined it was time for a name change.  In 2002 the credit union changed it’s name to People’s First Federal Credit Union.  Though this is a history of People’s First Credit Union, the goal for the credit union in the past and the future remains the same, providing good service for our members.
